2020 was…well, a year. When I look back, though, a lot of good things happened in spite of it all. At the top of the good list: I fulfilled my childhood dream of publishing my first novel. No matter what, I will always be proud of that. Even better, Fortune’s Shadow is getting good reviews (and many thanks to those of you who posted your comments and shared them with friends — it’s such a big help for visibility when you’re a self-published author).

The best moment of 2020 was when I could finally hold the print copy of my book in my hands. I can’t even describe how that felt, and I’m supposed to be a writer!

In retrospect, considering the dumpster fire that is 2020, I’m glad I chose to write Fortune’s Shadow as a self-contained story with a definitive ending. It’s removed a lot of pressure on how quickly I need to write the next book in the series, although I definitely want to get it out there as soon as possible. I’ve been working away on a fun sequel premise that features more of your favourite characters. My goal right now is to publish it by the end of 2021, and I think I’ll be able to make it. I’ll keep you posted as things progress. I’m also planning to work on some short stories set in the Nexus Chronicles universe that will be available to newsletter subscribers. (Newsletter, you ask? How come I didn’t know about it? It’s because it’s still on my list of “things to do” and only exists in my mind right now. Thanks, 2020! I promise it will be up shortly.)

To all of you — thank you for taking the time to read this post. I hope you’re well, and I wish you the best for 2021. May we all have a better year than 2020!

Take care and stay safe. I’ll be seeing you soon.
